SUBMARINE LAB
“After a climate-caused flood overtakes the Earth, a lone scientist explores the undersea world in his submarine. His studies of the surviving flora and fauna may just help him find the remnants of humanity and reverse the tide…”
My work for this project includes the research and development of concepts for a 3D modeled environment and props. Each prop required a process of reference searching —> concept exploration —> Final model sheet for 3D
INTERIOR & EXTERIOR DESIGN
“The scientist who lives inside the submarine does so full-time, rarely ever surfacing and only leaving the hull to research undersea ruins. “
The requirements for this space therefore included:
Artificial Lighting
Navigation tools / Onboard lab equipment
Spaces for sleeping and relaxing
Weapons and tools
Signs of research and study
Specimens and containers
A glass windshield/viewport
ARTIFICIAL LIGHTING
“The submarine’s superior technology was built to support undersea research. The equipment minimizes electrical wiring by using light-bending projection lenses for screens. The metals used to build the ship and it’s piping are a unique alloy that resists corrosion.”
Due to the low lighting of the scene, glowing or backlit materials were preferable aesthetically and practically for the futuristic theme.
